How many ShooAways do I need?
For a standard 6–8 seat dining table, we suggest two units. It's also worth grabbing an extra one to gift to friends and family!
Can ShooAway devices be used in the rain?
No - these devices shouldn't be exposed to wet conditions. Flies also tend to avoid rainy weather, and the units contain electric motors that are susceptible to water damage.
Can ShooAway units shoo flies indoors?
Yes, they work indoors effectively in a well-lit space. Holograms embedded in the blade tips refract and bounce light, creating the illusion of danger that flies detect through movement.
How tall are the units?
Units stand at 25cm tall - a height that keeps them below eye level while dining, so they won't get in the way of conversation.
Will a ShooAway shoo away those pesky mosquitoes?
No, mosquitoes aren't repelled by ShooAway. Mozzies and flies have different eyes - flies detect motion through refracted light, but mosquitoes aren't affected by this mechanism.
How long do 2 x AA batteries last?
Using quality batteries, ShooAway will run for approximately 30 hours. Turning the unit off once food is cleared away will help maximise battery life. Batteries are not included.
What is the ShooAway-Bamboo product made from?
ShooAway-Bamboo is made using a blend of bamboo fibres and engineering plastic, giving optimal strength while reducing plastic content.
Is the ShooAway-Bamboo actually made from bamboo?
Yes - it uses a blend of bamboo fibres as part of our ongoing sustainability efforts, with plans to move to fully sustainable materials in future.
How long will the ShooAway motor last?
Testing has shown a life expectancy well in excess of 1000 hours. We haven't killed a motor yet!
What is the normal courier time?
Allow 1-3 business days for delivery from the time you place your order. If you're at a rural or RD address, please allow an extra 1-2 working days.
Can you ship to a different address?
Yes, we can deliver within New Zealand to any address you nominate on your order. Freight costs are calculated at checkout.
Is my item tracked?
Yes - you'll receive an email with your tracking number. If it doesn't land in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder.
What if I don't use a credit card, how can I pay?

Do you allow pick-ups from your Rotorua warehouse?
Yes, pick-ups are available by prior arrangement. Please note the warehouse has no on-site payment facilities, so payment must be made before pick-up.

The rechargeable ShooAway runs for up to 8 hours on a full charge via USB-C - the charging cable is included in the box.
